Hello everyone,
I am swapping out the stock DCC/Sound decoder in my Bachmann 2-10-0 with a Soundtraxx Tsunami medium steam decoder. Everything is going well, however, do I need to cut some kind of compacitor installed to reduce radio interferance requirements in Europe? Can anyone tell me what do I need to sever because I don't see anything that looks like compacitors.
Also, do I really need to do this since (render the noise reduction feture inoperable) the stock decoder was a Soundtraxx and all I am doing is just swapping out the unit for a one with more options and higher performance? Any help would be most appreciated.
John
Bachmann locos come with capacitors and two inductors on the PC board to satisfy those requirements. The sound locos have two PC boards. One is the SoundTraxx decoder that plugs into an eight pin socket on the other PC board. That other PC board has the required components.
The caps have a C prefix. Just cut them out. I and many others have done that. With no caps, the two inductors are a moot point.
Some might insist on ripping that stuff out and hard wiring. Cutting the caps is much easier.
I have some Bachmann steamers.

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
