Don't often see new DC power packs these days, so a little surprised no one's mentioned this. Saw an ad on page 23 of the August MR for Toth Electronics, offering its LocoPower SVA-20 DC power pack: http://www.tothelectronics.com/
Nice pack, although not cheap ($200). In addition to built-in ammeter and voltmeter, it also offers a scale speed readout.
It also offers momentum. There is something about a 99 loco memery, but not sure what it's remembering. Output is up to 15 VDC at 1.5 amps, pure DC.

The scale speed readout has to be calibrated to the locomotive and it can remember 99 calibrations.
davidmbedardUm....scale speed readout? Not with just DC going to the rails....that requires distance and time to calculate.
Once calibrated it measures the bemf generated by the loco to measure the speed.
In the Jurassic age perhaps but,there is a car that measures scale speed.

Yep, CSXRobert has it. Toth also offers a scale speed readout that can further calibrate the speed readout (via a sensor placed next to the track) as well as act as a remote display for the throttle. It's call the SpeedTrakII.

There's always something new and I suspect that some DC users will find this feature of interest. It can certainly help with observing those employee timetable speed restrictions.
They also offer a remote readout only for the throttle, along with package deals of the thrtottle and either of these items.
