What can anybody tell me about this system? I am interested in trying it on my new layout. The new layout will be considerably smaller than the previous one
I just went to MRC and didn't see anything called MRC Freedom 1. Could you describe a bit about what it is?

If you ever fall over in public, pick yourself up and say “sorry it’s been a while since I inhabited a body.” And just walk away.
It is a DC system that offers sound and DCC like control. You are limited to three locomotives that can operate at a time. But the DC powerpack is turned up to full so you cannot operate another loco without the Freedom unit.
Basically a cheap, very limited version of Ring's Railpro.

Found this on-line. looks like a product review, possibly from RMC: http://www.modelrectifier.com/resources/trainSound/FreedomOne/freedomone.pdf
Yes, I could not find information on this product at MRC as I had no idea what the O.P. was talking about. However, the O.P. is the one asking about this, not me. I'm firmly into DCC.

It is on the back cover of the recent issue of MR.
Looks like DC power is on and up, the locomotive gets a ccustom decoder that has most DCC functions, but gets its signal via radio requency instead of tack based digital signal. The limit of three is because they use three different frequencies, on for each locomotive.
They could have built it with a digital, maybe blue tooth type signal that could urn more locomotives, but thier target audience is not really into that I suppose.
And for that matter, neither is the LION.

Looks like another niche system, aimed at folks who want the functionality of DCC, but are not yet ready to take the plunge. As an R/C system, it has drawbacks that a rail bound control system does not have.
