1.8mm LED source
Posted by Hamltnblue on Sunday, September 25, 2011 7:53 AM

We have been building PRR signals using Oregon Rail kits and LED's that were bought in bulk years ago.

We've come to the end of our LED supply and need many more.

Does anyone know a good source to get 1.8mm (T-3/4) yellow domed LED's?

The Lighting kits that Oregon sells are too expensive for the amount we are making and the LED's alone aren't suitable to glue directly into the target heads.

Thanks

Have you tried ebay?  I bought a giant bulk pack of 3mm blue LED's from china or japan ~6 years ago for a project that never got off the ground.   They were dirt cheap.   For the price, half of them might be duds, but I have never used a single one to check any of them out.

Anyways, Ebay had sizes and colors to the Nth degree for very cheap, try there.

Thanks.  Google didn't work out but I tried ebay and found them right away.  It's only about the 2nd time I've been on there.  The cost is 11 bucks for a hundred.

I have had nothing but good luck buying led's on Ebay. From the Chinese vendors. From the smallest surface mounts all the way up to 5mm.  The only ones that dont work so far are the ones I fried.

You will also notice their shipping charges are less coming from China, than if you were to order them from a supplier in the States. And you will get them in about a weeks time.
