Paged Mode vs Direct Mode Programming
Posted by JoeinPA on Wednesday, April 13, 2011 4:54 PM

I have a Digitrax Zephyr system and in its documentation it says that Paged Mode is preferred for programming.  In reading the documentation for the Zephyr Extra it appears that Direct Mode is now preferred.  What is the difference?  Is on more versatile than the other?

It's rather technical and has to do with how the command station accesses the CV values in the decoder ont he program track.. The JMRI site has a bit of an explanation here: http://jmri.sourceforge.net/help/en/manual/Basic_Mode.shtml

Randy:

Thanks for the info and link.  The JMRI explanation was what I was looking for.
