BLUELINE dicht lights
Posted by Harley-Davidson on Tuesday, November 25, 2008 8:24 AM

Does anybody know how to get, in a Blueline AC6000, the dicht lights always "steady on" (or "off" with F7) but flashing when I press the "horn" button?. Thanks you

This is one of the biggest failures or mistakes made in the BlueLine sound decoder.

There was a response about this on the Broadway Limited site's forums a few months ago on which CVs to set to get the ditch lights to stay on, but there is no way to make them flash once they are reprogrammed to be constant on.  You only have the option of them going off except when flashing, or being constant on and not flashing.  There also seems to be no way to change the rate or duration of flash.

I don't have the listing of CVs available right now, but it involved resetting five or six different CVs.

Check BLI's web site and read through their forums.  Unfortunately, they don't seem to have a Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) area that I could find.

I don't know if their solution applied only to the AC6000 or to all BlueLine engines with ditch lights.  Hopefully they have woken up and smelled the coffee and corrected this problem in their new Paragon 2 decoders.

Cacole, BLI answered me that the CV involved are 225, 160, 161, 162, 163 and 164, with sets for each one (I have it in other PC) but without sucess. Surprisingly, I have seen two other AC6000 with dicht lights always ON but flashing with the horn !!! Regretly, those high CVs can´t be readen by my PowerCab, so I can´t know their values. I reset with 8=8, changing the plug from J1 to J7 and viceversa, and recovery the decoder (Digitrax DZ125PS) with a PowerCab device, but nothing works....Thanks

I had no luck at all in switching the wiring plug that is supposed to change control of the lights from the BlueLine to the add-in motor control decoder, either.  I think the wiring is fouled up in the AC6000 or their instructions are meaningless.

I was able to program all of the CVs you list with an NCE ProCab Radio system, which does give feedback on CV values, but never was able to get the ditch lights to flash once they were changed to constant on, or to get the TCS decoder to control them or the headlight.

The Ditch lights on the first run of Blueline AC6000 can be controlled by Function 7 by changing CV225 form 19 to 3.  They cannot be made to be on, then flash when the horn is blown.

On the second run (Software version 7), the lights are always on, and flash with the horn.

In either case, almost every aspect of the lights is CV controllable.   See the tech manual at http://precision.zgraph.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=1823&pg=1  The output for these is called L1 in the book.  See CV's 160-164 to control ramp up/down time and on/off time.  See CV 220-225 for controlling with bell, horn, F7, DC Master AUX button, etc.

From their website: http://www.broadway-limited.com/index.php?p=catalog&parent=1823&pg=1

Q: Are the ditch lights adjustable on my BlueLine AC6000?

A: The ditch lights are very adjustable. The default is to come on when the horn blows.

Some DC options:

-Aux button on DC Master controls ditch lights if CV220 and CV222 are set to 3.

-If CV221 is set to 1, the ditch light come on with the bell.

Some DCC options:

-Set CV226 to 1 to make the ditch lights come on with the bell. Set to 0 to return to default.

-If CV225 is set to 3, F7 controls ditch lights.

To Make the lights on solid all the time set: CV225-3, CV160-3, CV161=50, CV162=2, CV163=3 and CV164 is 10. F7 turns them on and off.

Thanks you, Mister President Bob, for answer my question. The AC6000 in problems is the BHPbiliton "bubbles", purchased at FDT in august 2007, so you will see which software has. Anyway, can I change for the Software version 7? My second AC6000 is a CSX purchased 2 months ago at FDT, and this yes has the ditch "on" and flashing with the horn. But my favorite is the "bubbles scheme", and maybe you can tell me how to fix that lovely model. Please...Thanks you, Bob.
