TTX 56' Well Car Question
Posted by midwestfan on Thursday, May 17, 2007 10:36 PM
Athearn just announced a ready-to-roll well car based on the model introduced by Rail Power Products a few years ago. The car was designed to carry two containers up to 53', 1 semi- trailer up to 53'(??) or 4 UPS 28' containers. I have 2 questions. 1):Are these cars still hauling the 4 UPS containers they were initially designed for???  And 2): Are the cars still in service for TTX?? Thanks.

I very rarely see these cars, of course I do not pay as much attention to intermodal cars as I do to other cars. It does appear that they are in service still, although I think they are hauling other stuff also.

Yes , these cars are still in service , I inspect them for the BNSF, they mostly carry 40 foot containers or larger , very seldom do they carry semi trailers anymore .Most of these cars go to Willow Springs , Chicago/ LA trains . Hope this helps .
