Was there ever a Prototype paint scheme that matches this?
Posted by SeeYou190 on Friday, November 10, 2017 12:58 PM

I am once again working on passengers cars for the STRATTON & GILLETTE railroad. I try to avoid prototype paint schemes when possible.

.

This is the paint scheme I have decided on for my smooth side stream liners. Red, Silver, and Yellow with Black and Silver stripes. Roof will be silver.

.

Is it too similiar to an actual paint scheme?

.

.

Thanks.

Kevin, the paint scheme brings to mind, for me at least, the Kansas City Southern, even though it's not the same.

If I may make a suggestion, I'd change the silver stripe to black, and with a silver roof, the yellow might benefit from another black stripe separating it from the roof area.

My knee-jerk reaction was that it looked like one of the Circus cars Walthers did back in the day. Circus cars were always quite colorful like that.

Rock Island had a scheme kind of similar:  https://wjhudson.files.wordpress.com/2011/02/2.jpg

For a time in the 1940's post-war, the Susquehanna ran Stillwell passenger coaches with solid maroon bodies and silver roofs, no other embellishments.  Your proposed color scheme is different enough that I wouldn't worry about being accused of copying the Susie-Q.

Looks nice though!
