I made a relationship between the weight and the wheel diameter of freight cars on this table. Is this reasonable? The "present" consulted the AAR site, and the "1984" "Car and Locomotive Cyclopedia 1984."
The AAR has a few more wheel size to load combinations certified:
28'': 263,000 lbs30'': 263,000 lbs33'': 263,000 lbs
Its on page 31 of the following document:AAR Specification M-107/M-208: Wheels, Carbon Steel of 2009http://www.wheels-world.com/UploadFiles/standard/AAR_M-107_M-208-2009%20%20Wheels,Carbon%20SteeL.pdfRegards, Volker
Thank you Volker for the link.I think that almost freight cars are equipped with 1W(one-wear) wheels. Is this correct? Does it change with the times? Is not the "nominal capacity" used now?
