I have two GE 40ton steeple cabs that about to under go the surgery to have lit lamps applied to them. So my question is what color of light suits the locos more. A yellow or blue/white?
Yellowish white light is closer to incandescent lights used in locomotives in the past.
If you're going to use LEDs, get some "Golden White" ones.
