Are these boxcars generally still in service or have they been mostly replaced by larger versions? I've searched the net for various pictures and info but haven't had much luck. I have several of the older MDC kits as was looking for some plausability in having them on my modern era layout.

The MDC cars are not models of any real car. However, they types of cars they are similar to are still common.

Thanks for the info. Since they are still common, I will have to do more research to see in what way the kits are not accurate. Reasonably close in dimensions and detail is good enough for me.
Do you know in what way(s) the MDC models are off?
