MDC Gondola Modeling Help (Detail Assistance)
Posted by FRRYKid on Sunday, June 28, 2009 5:26 PM

I purchased an Accurate Finishing/Roundhouse 52'6" Mill Gondola Road Number BN 563449, part of a run of 700. (According to the Friends of the Burlington Northern Railroad website

http://www.fobnr.org/bncarlist/bncarlist5.htm

, this is part of a series of ex-SLSF gons road numbers 65750-65949.) What I need to know is which of the included brakewheels is the proper one. One is has a small center area and the other has a slightly larger center area with a "ridge" around it. Does anyone know if there are any pictures of the prototype or of this class that would show me which brakewheel is correct? In the alternative, has anyone worked with these models or seen this prototype in person that could help? I don't have easy access to a lot of the major railroad books that usually have these type of pictures in them. About the only access I have to these type of pictures is online. Thank you for all the assistance I can get from the users in here.

Do you mean this BN 563449? http://www.rrpicturearchives.net/rsPicture.aspx?id=297496

Unfortunately doesn't show the proper end.

But here's SLSF 65720.  Not the number series you wanted, but only 30 car numbers off.

Then comes the next questions..

Was BN 563449 shop and rebuilt with a different brakewheel? If so when?
