Can anyone give me some advice on a model im building.I have built a clinker silo for my cement plant but i cannot find any details on the structure that sits on top. Some of these buildings are three stories high and i am wanting an opening on the side so i can put some details inside.I am aware that there would be stairs and platforms but going around what i dont know, any advice would be great.

Hi,

Like any dry-bulk handling facility it's all about conveyors.

There are lots of different dry bulk transporting systems but the main workhorse is the continuous belt conveyor.

There would also be electrical cabinets for the level control equipment. Later years there would be dust collection with perhaps a baghouse and cyclone collector plus a fire suppression system (outside stand pipes and sprinkler systems.

Walthers has offered dozens of open and closed type conveyors over the years.

Good Luck, Ed

Here is a website containing information: http://cubushellas.gr/en/07-01-Cement_03.asp

It contains photos a some drawings. They are not large but sufficient I think.

Here are some CAD drawings: https://grabcad.com/library/8-deep-pan-conveyor-clinker-silo

And as last a Austrian broschure showing an overview of an Austrian cement company. No. 7 is the cement clinker silo. The photo shows that part of the clinker can get rerouted into another silo. http://zement.wup.at/wp-content/uploads/2018/01/sonderauausgabe-2017.pdf

I hope that helps a bit.
Regards, Volker

Here is a satellite view from Google Maps of the cement plant: https://goo.gl/maps/yUCDZUfJD5m

The three cylindrical silos at the top are cement silos.

Correction: The three silo discharge conveyors droptheir load on a conveyor going south to a tower. I think in the tower the clinker gets mixed with additives from an adjacent storage hall. From this tower the clinker goes north to the mill and the cement silos.

Sorry, I found the videos after I had already posted.
Regards, Volker

Edit: Here is a construction video: https://vimeo.com/161932950

And kind of layout rendering. Only the buildings are named in English:
