I am new to trains. I just bought a train set for my son for Xmas. He is the planes trains and automobiles kind of kid. He really loves racing too. So I came across the Lionel catalog and thought the NASCAR set was kind of cool since he loves trains and racing ---perfect. I got him one and have bought enough track to do the project. The last of the misc. track is on the way so it is almost build time. The room is like 12 x 12 and I was planning on doing one of those border train layouts that go around the top of the room. I thought I would see if anyone had any good ideas or suggestions that would help.Layouts are easy to find, but the high bookshelf stuff was hard to find. It would just be nice to see some pictures of how some have done this kind of project. I am just wanting to make sure that it goes up and stays up. The turn especially by the main entry door is a concern of how to brace it and yet have clearance for the door to swing open. With our house, it has ceiling heat too so I have always been careful not to mess with the ceiling as to not damage the coils. There will be plenty of strong brackets drilled into studs so the straights will be okay, but like I said the turns make me alittle nervous. Any suggestions, ideas, or links for help would be appreciated. My son is going to dig this when it is all done. Thanks for your time.
