I have John Armstrong's book and Linn Wescott's book. I am getting DCC made Easy.
I was wondering if anyone had Digital Command and Control: A comprehansive guide to DCC and Easy Model Railroad Wiring?
I am also looking for a good book of layouts that had a good selection of different layouts that could mostly fit on a 7' x 13' benchwork.....
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks,
Mike/Nightshade
"DCC Made Easy" is very basic, it will give you some info on wiring and how dcc works. If you want detail, this will probably not get you very far. "Easy Model Railroad Wiring" is good, but it doesn't cover dcc at all, it is all about conventional dc cab control wiring. I have not read "Digital Command and Control", so I can't comment on that.
Another good book you might want to consider is "The Digitrax Big Book of DCC". It is obviously slanted towards Digitrax products, but it is very comprehensive as far as installation of turnouts and loops, signalling, detection, blocks, etc. There is also good info on operation, including programming your decoders (stationary as well as mobile), and there is a whole section that is more technical for those interested. They look at a couple of layouts and talk about how to get set up your dcc for that type of layout.
Hope that helps.

DCC is changing so quickly that most books will be out dated by the time they are published. I have the Digitrax Big Book of DCC and it is good for basic DCC information, however if you will do an Internet search on DCC you can find a lot of very good information for free.
