Going Larger which is better pylwood or foam

I'm building a new layout my 3rd, It is going to be 10' x 14' on a plywood base but I might put foam over the plywood.
My question is how do you keep insulated joints in place on foam, they can't all land on straights and they can give enough trouble on plywood.
