Hello group,
My name is Patrick, and I am modeling trains for a long time. I am french born but living in Canada. I have currently a point to point N scale logging layout that I am exhibiting at different shows in Canada and US. Some of you may have seen it at Springfield for example...
Here are few pictures of the layout:

I am also playing with electronics and developing few boards for the model railroader such as animations, power station, DCC accessory decoders and especially a new automation system that prototypes a real automatic block system and signalling system in DCC without computer/sofware. I will present you my system after this first message to the group will be accepted...
See you there,
Patrick
to the forum. Your posts are delayed in moderation for a bit.
You have a website with pics. Click on the icon that looks like a mountain and sun and then we can see them directly. I son't think I got the order correct. I like your buildings.

Living the dream.
Hello Group,
Thank you for your welcome messages and your comments on my work.
Just for information, I will be at St-Albans, VT, for an exhibition this saturday. You can see my layout there. Next stop in 2 weeks in Ontario, Canada.
Very nice work, Patrick. I'll bet you get great comments at the shows you attend.

Excellent work. Thanks for showing us the work.
It will be interesting to see what you develop for signal systems and such. That is a nice layout.

A pessimist sees a dark tunnel
An optimist sees the light at the end of the tunnel
A realist sees a frieght train
An engineer sees three idiots standing on the tracks stairing blankly in space
Thank you all for the comments.
I have written a post describing my DCC system on the electronic section of this forum.
But on this layout, I am using a simple DC command station with automatic back-and-forth managment. In this way, I can discuss with visitors without having to drive the trains. This other system is very simple: the layout is equiped with IR barriers at each end and when detected, the train will automaticaly reverse its course and reach the other end of the layout... Nothing fancy here.
This layout is also equiped with a night and day lighting system and some ambiant sound around the sawmill during the day, and frogs at night ;-)
All electronic components and all the scenery are made by myself. The only commercial items are a Woodland scenic truck and the Atlas Shays. All the rest is hand crafted even the tracks.
Cheers,
