Passing Siding on a Curve with Kato Unitrack
Posted by randallr on Thursday, October 27, 2016 8:28 AM

I am using Kato Unitrack and what to have a passing siding on a curve. I am using number 6 turnouts. The outer track is 12 3/8 radius (315 mm) and would like the inner loop to be 11" radius (259 mm). The problem I am having is the #6 switches create a spacing "too wide" between track centers and hence there is not enough "room" for the 11 to fit inside the 12 3/8 (track centers are 49.6 mm for #6 turnouts but curve tracke centers are 33 mm). There must be a solution to this design dilemma! Do I need to place a short section of straight track in the outer loop or...? Thanks!

The Kato #4 turnouts include small auxiliary pieces to match 33 mm track spacing, whether on a curve or on a straight.
