Hi everyone - I have made the decision to move to N Scale so I can hopefully get more railroading in my available space. I chose to go with Kato Unitrack as the layout will not be too big. I am using #6 turnouts which control the flow of electricity selectively down one direction of the turnout or the other. I am running DC so I like to be able to isolate branches or industrial sidings. My issue is that one of my turnouts is not working correctly. It allows the electricity to flow along the straight forward route but when I switch the turnout to the right branch no electricity runs down the right branch. I tested with my voltmeter which shows voltage before the turnout and then none after. Any idea what may be causing this and how I can fix it? Thanks.
Kato Unitrack switches have the option of power routing and non-power routing. If you turn the switch on the back, you will see little screws to enable/disable the power routing. Refer to the manual to find out, which setting is the correct one. Set the screws according to the instruction.

If that does not help, there is something loose or broken in the switch.
Thanks for the update and the pic Sir Madog. I guess mine must be a different version of the switch. The underside of my turnouts have just a large silver metal plate with two small screws that appear to just be holding the plate on. No configuration settings and looks nothing like the turnout in your picture. I may try removing the 2 screws to see what is under the plate but I'm just a little afraid of some small spring flying out or something.
Sir Madog is showing a #4 switch, the N scale #6's do not have these options. Don't worry, they aren't hard to take apart and put back together.
