Hi all
I have been asking in various places about narrow gauge specificaly HOn30
And geting odd bits and pieces here and there one of them was the Building The San Juan Central Book
Well low and behold a track plan I nearly like I will be replacing the turntable with a turning triangle and having a loco release road in the terminus station
No big dramas there the space can be found the gauge diference between the book and what I want to do is 1mm so will have to more or less be the same.
How ever the problem I am having is trying to work out where the wood line is
On the original layout who really cares its a scenic defunct line with no real impact on the track plan or operations and is not shown on it.
In my much greener world I want a working wood line to generate pit props and boiler fuel for the mine.
I am having no end of trouble positioning where it is on the plan it is only short, and any curves can go down to slx inches for the wood line only egger bahn / minitrains log trucks for the long stuff and egger bahn opens for the eight foot boiler fuel or maybe minitrains.
Well they are HOn30 narrow gauge and would generate a bit extra traffic.
any one have any bright ideas on how to place the wood line at least roughly where it is scenicly
Thats the last hurdle for planning.
The relevent planing permisions for building are in place from the domestic authorities I just have to finish the track plan, so the process of building can start.
regards John
Hi John:
Any chance of posting a track plan?
Sorry if I have missed previous threads regarding the subject. If there are related threads could you post the links?

I'm just a dude with a bad back having a lot of fun with model trains, and finally building a layout!
A good brief overview, with comments on the strong and weak points of the design, is here: http://www.polyweb.com/dans_rr/blog/index.php/the-layout-project-ride-my-version-of-the-san-juan-central/the-san-juan-central
This fellow is doing an On30 line based on the SJC, but he has some good ideas on extending things: http://thundermesaminingco.blogspot.com/p/track-plan.html
What I would do is to try to extend the left side of the plan with the Crazy Horse bridge on it. That would provide more room for Tincup on the outside of that leg while providing space to build your logging branch out on the inside of that leg. Even if you can only get two feet or so extra, that would be big improvement, along with a wye in Montrose, etc, you've already mentioned.

Hi HOn3critter
Sorry no I don't have the nesassary 3rd party place for pictures etc.
Most of what I have been asking is around here somewhere or in general discusion
Pretty much set now just have to sort out this plan issuie the book is published by our host so not sure they would be happy with it being just anywhere
If you have acsess to the plan data base it might be there I don't have that acsess
I am still a bit of a Ludite where computors are concerend.
but this might help http://www.polyweb.com/dans_RR/blog/images/sjc/SJCTopView.jpg
