Substitute for Gypsolite
Posted by RicZ on Sunday, January 4, 2015 10:20 AM

In Dave Frary's DVDs on scenery, he advocates the use of Gypsolite for  bases.  Unfortunately, the product is not available in my area.  Does anyone know of a similar product oR substitute for Gypsolite?

You could order it from Scenic Express.

Or, try your local big-box hardware store - Home Depot, Lowes or Menards.  You'll have to buy a 50-pound bag, but that won't cost you much more than the 8-pound container from your LHS.  Just keep it dry.

I have a product called Structo-lite.  Got it at  my local hardware store (don't have a big box store near by).  They ordered me a 50# bag.  I believe it is the same product, just a different manufacturer.

Good luck,

Richard
