Cliffhanger

So this is the third layout of mine and currently it is on tour. Again it is 'animated installation art' The display is 16ft long and stand 6 feet to the top pf the trees.

Firstly, here is the animated waterfall.

and an overly dramatic video of the layout in action! (I never claimed sanity!)

more on the Glenthorne Harbour branch later

There's a lot of nice work in evidence here.  Well done!

Holy moly!!! That is some outstanding modeling. The pool with the diver jumping in, man that is cool.

The scene with the ocean crashing onto the cliffs. How in the world did you do that.

Michael,

When I saw those, I thought "Risky modeling at its best!" It's pretty hard to depict moving water that's actually stationary. I've managed to pull it off a time or two, but nothing on this scale or ambition.

This layout leaves me speechless!

I am sure it would make 1st in the Utrecht ONTRAX show!

When I showed one of my layouts near Hamburg, I froze rather than rusted! Cliffhanger goes to shows in what is called a 'panel truck' in the USA and was due to show at Eurospoor this year at Utrecht. Sadly the cost of transport was too much for them. It is showing at Coventry, UK next weekend though.

Here is a rapid 'how I built it'. The project took me a year.

The animated waterfall is created using ultrasonic mist makers and ducting the mist down hidden ports in the static waterfall.

Your modeling is impressive.  If not the best I';ve ever seen. it'pretty darn close.  Have you written any published articles?  If so, wheere?

I tried to sell my two cents worth, but no one would give me a plug nickel for it.

I don't have a leg to stand on.

Thank you. I have written a few for European magazines in the past but desist from doing so these days. I am writing too much in other fields to get round to it much at present.

Tovarisch, the final product is spectacular.  Also, from my point of view, the 'under construction' photos are priceless.  I'll be referencing them when I scenic the Tomikawa Gorge between Haruyama and Tomikawa.  (Similar terrain angle, but finger ridges pierced by tunnels and cross-gorges bridged with oxide red deck girders.  Prototype is 3'6" gauge.)

No ocean at the bottom of mine.  Only a river, navigable by kayakers living out death wishes.
