Atlas track
Posted by Matt'sdad on Tuesday, May 20, 2014 7:36 AM

I've been away from the hobby for 3 years due to a couple of moves.  I'm ready to start back in, n scale.  What happened to Atlas track availability?

Atlas has had a lot of problems with Chinese manufacturers.  There are other brands of track available, so shop around.

Looks like they will have a shipment coming in June.

You will just have to keep checking the various sellers to see when they get the stock in.

I like Bill's in Florida. He has great prices and has live inventory, so if it shows in stock, it is. He has track right now but no switches. And many other N scale items.

Hi

Atlas, has had some trouble. Seems that on ocassion a container of track comes in, and is sold off rather quickly!

It could change any moment, but:

They have it here and quantities are listed:

http://www.modeltrainstuff.com/N-Scale-Track-Roadbed-Accessories-s/1446.htm?searching=Y&sort=3&cat=1446&show=30&page=1&brand=Atlas

and here they list as "next day" meaning they physically have it on the shelves, or "available" which means they can get it.{out of stock means no-go for it at all}

http://www.wholesaletrains.com/NProducts2.asp?Scale=N&Item=150TK

BOTH are very good reputable dealers. I have used both  often.

SO it seems to me there is plenty available now!

good luck! and HURRY and order!

 HO and N Scale.

After long and careful thought, they have convinced me. I have come to the conclusion that they are right. The aliens did it.

Let's face it.

The Atlas track shortage (absence) has become one of the biggest model railroading fiascos in recent memory.

How long has it been since the shortage was first noticed?

One year?  Two years?  Three years?

Ridiculous!

Indeed..Where's the  N Scale flex track? Sorry, out of stock at MBK.

I've been out of  N Scale going on three years and the track shortage continues.

I'm thinking it's been about 2 years.  I didn't really feel the crunch.  I had bought all the flex track I needed, and I had switched to Walthers-Shinohara turnouts for that part of my layout.  I remember buying flex track and removing the ties to get rails for my carfloat, and I bought a few extra pieces when the supply started to dry up, so I'm ready for the next phase of construction.

Just when nobody had any Atlas flex track, a customer at my LHS decided to switch to Peco.  He brought back an entire case of Atlas flex and got a full refund.  Everybody won.

I wonder how many have been waiting that long for the track to come through and not making any progress on their layouts. Judging by the shear number of these threads I bet there are a few.  Sounds like a bad episode of  "The Twilight Zone" to me.

Now that you'd mentioned that, they'll probably be out in short order!  Run Forrest run!  Big Smile
