OK - I've seen a few posts about this kit and watched several videos and am pretty impressed with the amount of detail in this kit assuming everything in the video was part of the kit. I know it's very expensive (around $600 or so) for everything once you purchase the parts of the kits to complete it. Has anyone done this? Is the quality worth it? It looks like a fun way of learning the basics before trying a lot of this on your own.
From the contents list of the three different kits you need to build the layout, it seems, as if all the material is included to build that layout - with the exception of locos and rolling stock. The price looks steep, but reasonable, as most people underestimate the cost of scenic materials and structures.
OTOH, $ 600 + is quite a lot of money for a rather simple layout in terms of the track plan. If you intend this layout just to build up skills, there are better, cheaper ways to do so. Try your hand at Woodland´s Learning kits.
I built the River Pass kit. It contains everything you need except trains and power if you buy all three kits.
