Structure build log
Posted by SMassey on Thursday, October 20, 2011 11:44 PM

Right now my layout is in the structure building phase.  I have plenty of structures that are needed to be finished and put out on the layout so I thought I would share my work here with everyone.  I usually do my structures in phases as well.  Let me expain.

FIrst off I decide on the buildings I want and about where they are going to go.  Then the colors.  Next I build the buildings painted how I want and let them hold their places on the layout while I finish more of the layout and start on the scenery.  The last step I give the buildings their character, like people inside and out, interiors and lighting and finish the scenes.

The first 2 stages happen pretty quick since they are the easy part with paint and basic assembly.  Once I know where everything is going to go then I play with lights and fun stuff.

Here are some pics of some reciently completed and currently in work pieces.

Merchant's Row II

Maywood Station (South Massey Station)

Engine shop

Buildings in town.

Office and spill shed for the fuel rack.

1/2 completed Lumber shed.

Comments always welcome and stay tuned for more as they get built.
