Speaking of Signs...
Posted by cedarwoodron on Friday, March 12, 2010 7:11 PM

I have had very good luck with inkjet printing of HO signage for various structures using Avery Clear Easy-Peel Labels, both in the 1" x 2-5/8" address label size (30/sheet- 10 sheets per pack/ item 18660) and the larger 2" x 4" shipping label size (10/sheet- 5 sheets per pack/ item 28663).

These labels have a flat non-reflective (not satin) aspect and show up as virtually invisible on paper. When I print and apply the labels to styrene sheet to provide a backing, they look very nice. I picked them up at WalMart (where else!) in the stationery aisles.

I use MS Paint to assemble the lettering and any imported images, then print and let sit for a few minutes. When applying to the styrene sheet material, I apply on an oversize piece, then use the peeled label slick backing to burnish and secure flat.
