acrylic craft paint
Posted by Bone on Tuesday, March 25, 2008 4:18 PM

I have searched the forums and found many beautiful painted backdrops. After trial and error to get satisfactory results with a blue sky, I now want to paint my rolling North Carolina hills right the first time. I feel fairly confident with my painting skill, I just don't know which colors of craft paint achieve that faded distant horizon. What I am asking is, if you use acrylic craft paints from the hobby store or Walmart, what colors? Specifically the name of the color ex. leaf green.

Here's my experiment, please ignore my first attempt at clouds:

I used Delta Creamcoat craft paint.  The far hills are Cape Cod Blue, the close hills Christmas Green.  The middle hills are a 50/50ish mix of the two.

Bone,

I used Sherwin Williams "Sky Blue".  It is an outdate color but I have the formula if you like.
