Turntables
Posted by jim2203 on Friday, February 8, 2008 1:30 PM

Has anyone had any experence with the BOWSER turntables (marketed thru Stewart Hobbies only i think) with or without the Dallee Indexing?  They are pretty pricy ($360 without index) and I'd like some feedback about 'em before I buy.

Thanks

How are you at scratch building? I've made a couple that work satisfactorily using Bowser main shaft, mounts and bushings. For one I powered with a Diamond scale drive I bought at a train show and control it with a decoder,no indexing. Workd good. The other is powered by a motor and belt drive I scavenged from a vending machine bill changer. That one too is controlled through my digitrax system and a decoder. Most stuff I had on hand and the most expensive part  was the decoders.
In Lewiston Idaho, where they filmed Breakheart pass.

reklein - I never thought about using one of those cogged belt drives before. Thanks for the idea!
