walthers/shinora turnout question........

hello everyone, i need to know the best way to insulate the frog end of walthers/shinora turnouts? i know plastic insulaters will work, but they are very flimsy and especially in a curve. i thought about useing ordinary nickel/silver joiners and then useing a razor saw to cut a gap right after the frog on the turnout..... would this be ok? anyone have any better solutions or ideas? all comments welcome. thanks! go past the frog about an inch (over the first tie past the frog not the actual frog itself...very carfully use a razor saw if that is all you have..(it's better to use a dremel tool cut off wheel)..carefully make the cuts and then cram a piece of styrene plastic into the cuts until it's a snug fit...glue it in with C/A glue and after it dries, whittle it out with a hobby knife until it conforms to the shape of the rail...If you do do this, you're going to have to power the frog....you can power it with a SP/DT switch and manually throw it after you throw the turnout points or you can use the auxilary posts on a tortoise machine or an atlas relay with the atlas turnout machine...or you can insulate at both rails of the straight and diverging route...that's what i like about the select control turnouts...the train will stop if the points are not aligned properly to avoid derailments...Chuck
