I have some figures that I am going to put on a diorama for a fair project and the rules say you have to change the figures in some way and I don't have any ideas. Please help.
You could paint them. Or you could change their positions slightly -- saw off a head or an arm and glue them back on in a different position.

Use wire to form a cane or walking stick, and glue it into somebody's hand.
Make an irregular "blob" out of something like aluminum foil, then paint it green & add colored spots. It should look like a bouquet of flowers to glue to a woman's hand.
Shave a person's head flat on top. Add a paper disc to represent a hat brim, then add the rest of the hat using clay or a bit of putty. Paint the new hat to taste. This could be a big sombrero, straw hat, cowboy hat, small baseball cap, a fedora, a derby, or anything else.
A figure of a guy could be painted as if he's wearing your school's colors.
Look around and observe people. You'll get ideas.
Good luck.

Whatever you do, DON'T read the threads on fitting figures into vehicles - the results are NOT pretty at most viewing angles.Unless your diorama is set by chance in a horror/slasher movie...
Cheap Model Power unpainted figures
Limbs removed, repositioned and glued back on, plus some plastic putty
And some paint. Pay no attention to the man behind the curtain.
It takes an iron man to play with a toy iron horse.
Forgot to mention that the figures are already painted.
