Why don't you just e-mail or call the N-scale manufacturer of the kit?  If they're still in business, they should have access to assembly instructions to send to you.  If not, someone here on the forum might also have the same kit and could scan the instructions for you.

I've never checked any of the kits I've bought ahead of time for assembly instructions; nor have I ever had a one lack them.  Things happen.  Contact the manufacturer...

Most retailers of my acquaintance do not take kindly to you opening a package before you purchase it. Manufacturers, on the other hand, are generally extremely happy to provide you with any missing parts discovered after you get it home (one company, maybe Walthers, actually sent me a totally new kit).

By all means, get in touch with the manufacturer!  It could be the instructions are available on-line.

Yes.  I lost the instructions to a Walthers Carfloat kit, which is retired.  I e-mailed Walthers, and had a PDF of the instructions within an hour.

Another option is to post the manufacturer and kit name or model number here, and see if anyone has a copy they could send you.

The last time I purchased a kit of any type at a hobby shop, they had taped all the boxes shut to keep people (thieves) from taking advantage of the 5-finger discount (stealing) parts and instructions out of the boxes.  They are the second hobby shop I have encountered that have had to resort to this.

That's a shame.  I won't buy a rolling stock kit unless I can open up the box and look at the BLT date.  The only exceptions to that are the Branchline kits (which usually have the dates printed on the front end of the box)...or if I already know what the BLT date of the model is.

What am I missing as I do not see a picture, or anything saying which kit it is or who makes it I can not help you. How do the others replying know what you are describing?
