I like Wayne's suggestion. Also, have you tried slightly bending inward the diverging route point rail-carefully and gently by hand (I assume that is the point rail that is spreading)? By the way, I don't believe you have indicated whether your problem occurs when the turnout is lined for the through route or the diverging route or both.
