I have been a model railroader since I was eleven years old. I have had many layouts (all HO) which have been abandoned due to military or civilian relocation. The latest was started in August of 2014 and is probably my last hoorah due to age. It is a single deck 12 x 14 foot steam era desert & mountain themed DCC (NCE) freight enterprise. I am trying to really do it all correctly this time around and I am taking my time with it. At this point I have much of the Code 83 track down and hope to actually run trains for my grandson before Christmas (this year, thank you).
I did get the trains running for my grandson at that Christmas. Now in 2017 the Tularosa Basin RR hasn't progressed much. My old eyes have prevented me from all but some modeling and working on the layout. They seem to be on the mend and I'm looking forward to returning to my favorite hobby. In the meantime I've been buying engines and rolling stock on eBay.
May 2018 - I'm Baaaaaaaack. Major eye trouble but I have been getting treatment. Right eye (dominant) is not too bad now but left not working too well- all horizontal things like text, lines and surfaces are wavy. I close that eye and operate (sic) with the right only but depth perception is gone then. Hard to put a screw in a hole etc. I have to install about 40 Tortoise switch machines under the layout and between eyes and old joints, it's going to be a b---h. If any one local to Las Cruces, NM wants to make a buck or two, please let me know. Bye for now.
