Brought up in Newfoundland with steam and first generation diesels on 3'6" gauge. Always loved western railroads from Denver to Los Angeles. Built a freelanced western railway in my student days (1956-63) and then became armchair railroader until 2008. Now working on N scale Santa Fe 'Surf Line' exhibition layout.
