(I WRITE IN CAPS DUE TO EYE ISSUES)
CAREER WISE I HAVE WORKED IN THE RUBBER INDUSTRY AS A CHEMIST. HAVE HAD OTHER POSITIONS USUALY IN BUSINESS.PLANT MANAGEMENT. BECAME DISABLED BREATHING AND EYE SIGHT WISE. THIS HOBBY KEEPS ME GOING AND I HAVE BECOME A SOUCE FOR HTF. PARTS FOR PEOPLE WHO ARE IN THE SHOES I ONCE WAS IN.
MY JOURNEY IN TRAINS STARTED WITH MY INTEREST IN GILBERT ERECTOR SETS. IN 1937 GILBERT ACQUIRED A.F. AND PUT IT INTO HIS LARGER SET. THAT YEAR HE ONLY PUT THE 420 LOCOMOTIVE AND A FEW PIECES OF TRACK WITH ALL THE OTHER ERECTOR SET PIECES. THE KID COULD THEN USE ERECTOR SET PIECES TO BUILD ALL THE ROLLING STOCK AND EVEN ROUND HOUSES WITH ERECTOR PIECES. THE KID HAD TO GO TO THE HOBBY STORE AND GET THE TRANSFORMER AND EXTRA PIECES TO BUILD "ERECTORVILLE" VILLAGE.
MY FIRST TRAIN HAD THE ZINC ROT ISSUES AND I SEARCHED AND SEARCHED FOR PARTS. AT THE TIME I DID NOT WANT TO DESTROY A TRAIN TO SALVAGE PARTS. I SEARCHED FOR MONTHS JOINED CLUBS TO NO AVAIL. I BOUGHT A FEW BOOKS WHICH HELPED A BIT. I FINALLY SOURCED SOME WHEELS AND STARTED MY JUNK YARD. SINCE THEN I HAVE TOUCHED QUITE A FEW HUNDRED SPECIALIZING IN PRE-WAR ONLY LOCOMOTIVE AND A FEW ROLLING STOCK PIECES. I COLLECT ANY RELATED PAPERWORK INCLUDING SET MANUALS,& OLD PART SUPPLIER TID BITS.
I HAVE NO PROBLEM TALKING SHOP, PREWAR ONLY. MY NITCH IS WHEN GILBERT BOUGHT A.F. 37-42. I SELL ON EBAY WHICH KEEPS ME BUSY. 989-90-1404
