80 something Australian railfan and modeller. I have travelled by train on every continent in everything from luxury trains such as ROVOS RAIL in South Africa, Eastern Orient Express Bangkok to Singapore, and at another time in reverse, and Rocky Mountaineer Gold class to the drover's compartment on the back of a cattle wagon on a cattle train. Smelled better than some commuter trains I have ridden but then I was a farm boy. I have travelled extensively in USA using rail where possible including seven major Amtrak trains; just need Toledo to Chicago to complete Boston to San Fransico. If I can find a tourist train and I have the time I ride it eg from the Conway Scenic in NH to Copper Canyon in Mexico. Every tourist train in Colorado including Cripple Creek and Victor but that was before the new Veta Pass etc system. As a modeller I originally followed the New Haven in HO but when I discovered N on my return from Viet Nam I switched as it made it easier to move my layout as I pursued my nomadic military life. This was also the opportunity to Go West and become Santa Fe oriented for the last fifty years.
