I started in large scale like many of us have with a LGB starter set to go around the Christmas tree in 2006.   That Spring  I moved oudoors and put down 125' of track.  Over the next few years the RR expanded and is now pushing 600 feet of track with both Bachmann geared steam locos and USAT diesels running the rails. 

When I was building my empire there was many natural things to overcome such as a stiff grade, roots, rocks and with 2 cocker spaniels running over half my layout...  poop.   Considering all 3 the RRPPRR was born and that is the Rock Root and Pup Poop Rail Road. 

The theme of my RR is FUN.   I don't stick to any particular scale, I simply run what I like and what looks good.  The RR has evolved over the years to the point where the diesels do most of the maintenance and freight movements and the steamers are reserved for railfan trips, videos and photographs.
