I am a 68 year old newby to model railroading. I am Professor of Philosophy and Religious Studies at a small, local college. My wife and I have been married for 47 years and have 4 grown children and 4 grandchildren. Our family is scattered around the country and around the world. We live in a very rural area of Eastern Kentucky in the heart of the Central Appalachian Coalfields For the past 10 years, I have enjoyed restoring vintage garden tractors but now, with the onset of a serious case of arthritis and knee replacement surgery, I am looking for another hobby to replace the heavy lifting of 150 pound motors, et al. I am drawn to model railroading and believe I will enjoy doing this. My wife and I enjoy bicycling on Rail Trails and reading as well.
