I'm a few years from retirement and my 5-year old grandson decided he wants a model railroad empire at grandpa's house. So we have started building the Columbus, Newark and Zanesville Railroad in N-scale using Kato track and a two level 5x10 layout. He has big plans for grain and cattle, passenger trains, logging, coaling, and water towers, 'gotta have water towers, grandpa'. We are modeling the year 2003, because that is the only year all the engines we bought were all operational at the same time. CSX, Norfolk Southern, Ohio Central, and one oddball PRR switcher, but he liked it so we bought it. I'm looking forward to sharing what I learn along the way, and most of all getting some help from the more seasoned modelers her at Trains.com.
