I started in model railroading in the late 40's and 50s. When I graduated from Glenwood MN high school in 1958 I went in the US Navy and became a Sea Bee.
When my enlistment was up I went back to MN to attend a trade school to become a tool & die maker but I left the trades as a machinist on the Great Northern RR in 1970 and went to Australia. I returned to the US in 1978 from a project in Iran and I went into the US Army to become a paratrooper and I served in the 11th SFGP until mid-1986.
My wife and I built a number of HO layouts together, the last one was called Grosser's Nostalgia Trip which was an 18X36 sectional layout that we hauled to train shows and NMRA conventions. We ended up selling the HO and got into O scale and in the last 6 years we have been playing with 7-1/2 inch gauge 1.6 scale hernia gauge stuff in the yard.
