I grew up in St Matthews, Ky just East of Louisville during the 60's with the L&N tracks a clear view only 200 ft from the back of my house. My fondest memories are of watching the F series locos roar past on the double mainline. I had a small 4' x 8' HO layout when I was young.
Fast forward to 2006 with my local lake about dried up due to a drought and I couldn't boat anymore. With nothing to do I built a DPM kit and enjoyed it so much I built many more. The obivious thing to do was to build a railroad on which to put the structures and the Richlawn Railroad was born, named after the subdivision of my childhood.
Today my HO scale Richlawn Railroad has it own room in my basement and is set in the 60's & 70's with 101' of mainline, a freight yard with 9 tracks, a downtown area with 15 buildings, a 7-1/2' high mountain area with tunnels, and features the L&N railroad.
