Retired Navy Chief Petty Officer. Properly inoculated and indoctrinated in railroad lore at a young age. Maternal grandfather was a locomotive engineer for the Pennsylvania Railroad while paternal grandmother "took a ride on the Reading" every work day. An uncle was an electrician for the PRR working at Enola Yard. Visits to see our relatives back East usually by train and included rides on the Strasburg RR or New Hope & Ivyland RR and sometimes the Black River & Western in New Jersey. While a student at Wabash College in Crawfordsville, IN, thoroughly enjoyed Peoria & Eastern (PC) trains which ran through the campus in view of my dorm window. During Naval career, enjoyed exporing railroads that supported major installations such as Naval Station Norfolk, Norfolk Naval Shipyard, and Naval Weapons Station, Yorktown, VA.
