Active modeler for a decade now. I'm a train nerd in since I was born, but an absolute fanatic for early diesels and a freak for steam, especially mid to late generation.
After a lot of digging and research, my two areas of focus are 1953-55 (modeled) and 2010-2017. I'm huge in realistic proto-freelancing, modeling a what-if scenario for the Hocking Valley Railroad, a rather prosperous coal hauler in southeast Ohio.
The layout is a 12x14 modular triple decker (eventually) with an emphasis on prototypical operation. Digitrax DCC radio with JMRI for switch lists/keeping track of the freight car fleet. Code 83 track with predominately Atlas an Walthers turnouts with a increasing smattering of Peco. Foam scenery and various trach heights for the main, sidings, and yards/industrial. Sound and realistic weathering is mandatory whenever I can get it in.
The really big thing on the list is an eventually full signal system with a physical CTC panel using Digitrax/RRcirkits components run off JMRI.
I also have a YouTube page where I post layout updates, occasional how to videos/railfanning, and and cool stuff like vacations and museum when I do them.
