HO Scale European Model Railway - The layout is a 10 piece modular that currently fits in a 22' x 16' room. The pieces vary in length but are all 28" wide to allow for passage through a standard door without having to tip any of the pieces. The area under the layout is designed as storage space. The rail is DC and operated with a LENZ DCC system. The aim is to have a small operating layout with emphesis on details and scenery.
Die Oberwaldeisenbahn is mythical secondary rail line that travels through the rolling hills somewhere in the Black Forest of Germany passing through the small town of OBERWALD-BERGTAL (SCH). Besides regular Deutsche Bundesbahn (DB) electric, diesel, and steam trains it is not uncommon to see OBB (Austrian) or SBB (Swiss) trains pass through on occasion. The rail yard provides access to the main station which has regular passenger service, a postal depot, agricultural depot, heavy goods loading facilty, a cargo transfer warehouse and loading ramp, and a small factory. The main focus will on the activity in and around the station. Once completed the town of Oberwald-Bergtal will overlook the yard on one side, with rolling wooded hills and farm land on the other.
