I can't remember the first time I sat down with model trains. My first layout was a 2x4 N scale layout built on a scrap of plywood with oversize terrain more suited to Ho scale. After becoming thoroughly disgusted with the double oval track and lack of operating potential with the layout I scrapped it. Lionel trains filled the void while I had no layout or room to put one.
A couple of years after the N scale adventure, I started the Blue Water Model Railroad Club, A local HO scale modular club running off NMRA standards. The BWMRRC grew to a size of 15-25 members before ceasing operations due to a loss of operating space. After taking another 2-4 year break from modeling (but never railfaning) I'm starting again, looking to build a double deck Ho scale model of the Pere Marquette in 1946 or 1948.
