I am a former teacher, K-12, and like many of us, a model railroader since way back when.  My first layout was actually my brother Ken's O Gauge, then I got into HO and after a decade there, N-Scale about 1967. I've been a N Gauge person ever since.

I am currently finishing a 28 foot long industrial portion of my Galena and Southwestern Wisconsin layout, which was a Chicago & Northwestern railroad until 1930.  The last tracks were torn up in the late 1970's, but in my little world the short-line was bought by a private interest with lots of money, in the early in 1930's, using mostly old Milwaukee Road locomotives, some steam and later some early diesels. I model 1954.

Cancer slowed me down for 2 years, but I am back at it, adding scenery, running test operations, setting up daily runs for industry and so on.  When done it will also have a tourist train to a local famous health spa in Hazel Green, WI.

I have more than 26 feet of operable tracks laid as of now in the Galena section, with about 100 total feet left to go to get to Benton, WI.  After that, I may have to use a double layered portion to get to Platteville, WI.  The 28 ft. portion is operable, partially scenicked and can support two operators.  Once I get the track laid and know it is bulletproof, the rest will support up to 5 operators.

While in the Air Force, 1974-1979, I chanced to go to Spain, where I stayed after becoming a civilian once more, for 5 years. I saw some really neat European layouts then and operated on a few of them. None were DCC but were blocked and fun to operate!  Now I use Digitrax and all my locomotives have decoders.  I am looking for a few with sound as well, probably the Milwaukee Road or C&NW early diesels or later steam.
