I grew up outside of Philadelphia not far from the Main Line of the PRR, and rode the Paoli local MP54s every day to and from school (Silverliners were a treat when they came along). Moved to NYC after graduate school and have lived there ever since (30 years), though I visit the Philadelphia area frequently.
My interest in railroads stems from having a grandfather and great uncle who served on the PRR Board of Directors at various times from 1936 until 1967, as well as a great grandfather who was a senior partner and later President of The Baldwin Locomotive Works. His papers and the recollections of my grandfather and great uncle have given me considerable insight into the world of Baldwin and the PRR in the first half of the 20th Century.
