I received my first Lionel train set before I was born in 1947! My dad purchased a 221 engine outfit, and then a year or two later, a 2035 freight. I had a layout my dad built, about 5 x 9, an oval with a passing siding. That is what I have today, although with hi-rail scenery, and some post war and modern accessories. It uses 0-27 tubular on Woodland Scenics roadbed, with Three R plastic ties, and 42" curves and K-Line switches. I run Lionel, postwar and modern, Atlas, K-Line, MTH, and RMT engines and cars.
I was heavily influenced by the Lackawanna, and E-L growing up, occasionally taking most of the passenger trains from my home in Hoboken to East Stroudsburg to visit my aunt and uncle in the Poconos. I've ridden on the Phoebe Snow, Lake Cities, Twilight, and lesser trains.
I now live in NE PA near Lake Wallenpaupack, and I'm a film archivist working for a major metropolitan museum.
