Hello All, I'm Jim and in my mid '50s. I have been MRR for over 15 years now and when I started, I bailed right in with Digitrax. I still find it "trying" sometimes with the features it offers but don't think I'd trade it for any other brand now.
This is my third try at the layout, it was never big enough. I now have a layout that is 36' long and 16' wide and can run 6 trains at once without any of 'same line' crashes. I think I once calculated over 1500' of track laid. I have 4- DB150s as boosters, a DCS100 as command and boosting a 5th zone. I also have 3 Zephyrs that are hooked up as booster/throttle but not powering any zones. I also have the LocoNet tethered system with 3- DT400s, 2- UT4s and 1- UT1 Throttles.
I had most brands of locos over the years and my favourite was always Kato, even w/o sound..... until I got a BLI F7 with QSI Quantum sound. I went on an eBay shopping spree and upgraded to all AC6000s of different rail companies with BlueLine, QSI and Paragon2. So now my BLI collection is over 30 and I sold 30....lol. I also have well over 400 cars with 300 on the layout now. Paragon2 rocks, QSI.... ok or so-so, BlueLine is really nice sound too but they can be so temperamental with 2 decoders in them.
I never quit learning, especially from my own mistakes....lol. I decided to join a forum club to share and gather knowledge and this site looks like a great one to be involved in. So I will be looking forward to getting more aquatinted with this site and some of the members here.
