50 Tips
Posted by Capt Bob Johnson on Monday, June 5, 2006 12:39 PM
Got my copy of 50 tips this weekend! Nicely done. Found a couple in there that I think will be helpful to me.

Kudos to the art dept. - They took my description and made a very credible picture of the tool. looks suspicously like the real thing![8D]

Will this '50 tips' booklet be arriving at all GR subscribers' doors? Usually I get GR before you guys in the US, but nothing yet.

By the way, how do you like this smiley? Can you see him?

Yes , very nice. I think its good that no names are placed by the tips. I'm sure many folks had the same tips.
The photo of removing letter came out fine.[;)][:I]

Is it REAL? or Just 1:29 scale?

Ditto Mathew: "Will this '50 tips' booklet be arriving at all GR subscribers' doors? "
Usually I get GR about three weeks after other guys in the US, but nothing yet.

Nice Gif - smiliey, Mathew.

The 50 Tips booklet will be included with copies of the August issue sold on newsstands and in hobby shops (on-sale July 11). These booklets are created with the purpose of bringing new people into the hobby. While we understand that many of our subscribers would be interested in this material as well, it is financially prohibitive for us to include a booklet with every subscriber's copy.

That being said, subscribers are still able to receive the booklet free of charge by contacting our Customer Sales and Service department. They can be contacted via e-mail at customerservice@trains.com or via phone at 1-800-533-6644 (Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m. Central Time).

Glad that as a subscriber I'll be getting these. I could have used more tips 6 months ago!

I regard my self as being pretty expert, although i have only been in the hobby for about 4 years but i have done a lot of unusual things and am retired with time on my hands.

However you make think you know a lot but you do not know everything and it is amazing what good stuff you can get out of a thing like this.

good luck with it,

Ian

The Email doesn't mean that they put it in the post yet, just that the person responsible for sending out nice Emails can pass the buck if they get a "Where's the booklet you promised..." message.

I agree with Marty C. "... I think its good that no names are placed by the tips" This way I KNOW it was my tips that were the ones included [:D] and not one of the 1,000 other people that had sent in the idea.

Hi Capt Bob Johnson
Well I know which one is mine and have had my 10 seconds of fame[:D].
What more could I ask for.
The answer is simple the parts to make some one elses tip
I think the real value is in not what I think I know
But what others where able to show me I did not think of.
I agree it is was better not to have the names of who contributed what, I would think there would be a high degree of try this idea written several diferent ways.
And I think that the person puting it together would feel some obligation to put the first version in if names where involved
Anyway who cares its a great little publication that I wish could have been a little bit bigger.
regards John
